"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future."
— Jeremiah 29:11
About Senior Dream Center
In August 2007, Frank Lewis read an article about Seniors being granted wishes in Pennsylvania and the very next week he saw a man have his dream fulfilled during a NFL football game in Indianapolis. Never Too Late, a senior wish organization in Indianapolis, was granting his wish. "Instantly, I knew this was what I wanted to do, for I've had a passion for senior citizens my entire life." Frank e-mailed Bob Haverstick, president of Never Too Late, and asked him about starting a similar organization here in Springfield. He also talked to the Twilight organization in Pennsylvania and found a third organization in Memphis, Forever Young. All of these groups have been very kind and gracious in helping Senior Dream Center get started. Many people are possessive of their ideas and want to keep their successes to themselves, but all of the above groups have opened their ideas and shared them freely to our organization. Frank then shared all of this with Steve Temple and asked Steve to join him in making this happen here in Springfield. Steve became a co-founder and we pulled our resources, contacts and efforts to create Senior Dream Center.
The name of Senior Dream Center speaks for itself. We are here to fulfill dreams for the seniors in our communities. The goal is to improve the quality of life for those that have paved the way for those coming behind them. No matter how old we get on the outside, we still feel like teenagers on the inside. Our bones may ache from time to time, but if we close our eyes, we see a young person in our minds and we all have dreams.
We want to change the image of aging and redefine it with self-confidence, respect, and a fun-filled life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future". Many may find it difficult to apply this verse to seniors, but they have great value and deserve hope with a rewarding future. Our organization and Central Ohio celebrate senior citizens! We look forward to making their dreams come true.
