"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future."
— Jeremiah 29:11
Dreams Come True
Amy Holycross has terminal cancer and wanted to see Disney World.
The Senior Dream Center donated a shaded swing to Clark Memorial Home.
Betty Bohn, age 81, wanted to ride in a hot-air balloon. We got her up, up and away.
Linda Baumgardner is allergic to the sun and needed a canopy for her scooter. Done.
Kim Tingley has brain cancer and wanted to see George Strait. Piece of cake.
Ernest and Doris Murphy wanted to take a cruise, but Ernest's health did not allow it. We came up with an acceptable alternative.
Paul Jones, 81, dreamed of having a lift chair. Consider it done.
Herb Lowe always dreamed of making it big in music. We couldn't make him a star, but we gave him the tools to make music.
Grand Court residents asked about a raised garden. We put our minds to work (and got our hands dirty) and got it done.
Jo Boosinger wanted to drive a Hummer. This was easy.
Scott West wanted to go to Las Vegas. See how much fun he had.
Donald Haas need a new Bible. We came through.
Steve Temple of the Senior Dream Center went with a group of veterans on an Honor Flight.
Charlotte Trinkle had never tasted a "real steak." We pleased her palate.
Travis Babcock is confined to a wheelchair and wanted to visit family in Indiana on Christmas. We got him there.
Clyde Bond is an Ohio State Graduate. He recently suffered a stroke, had to quit working and rely on his family more. This has affected his outlook on life. His sister asked us if we could get him to an OSU football game. We had to pull quite a few bureaucratic strings, Clyde cheered the Bucks in person.
Linda Perkins has MS and is wheelchair-bound. In her pre-teen and teen years, she was a competitive swimmer. Her dream was to swim again. This one was a toughie, but we got it done!
Don Trostle, a resident of the Masonic Home, wanted to attend his grandson's wedding in Cincinnati. But he had no way to get there and needed someone to help attend to his needs. Senior Dream Center found a solution.
Anna Wilson was homebound and confined to a wheelchair, but she was determined to attend a friend's retirement celebration. We knew just what to do.
Sarah Wagner wanted to ride in a PT Cruiser.
Harley Orr wanted to ride in a red Oldsmobile. We fulfilled his dream — with a flair.
Mildred Loll loves doing jigsaw puzzles. But the table she works on is old, beat-up and has bad lighting. Senior Dream Center heard her plea.
Everett Snapp wanted to be reunited with his daughter before he died. It happened.
Senior Dream Center has made a donation to Honor Flight to help WWII veterans visit their memorial.
Delores Brandenburg, a cancer patient, has custody of her 10-year-old granddaughter, Haylee. Dorothy's dream was to be able to take Haylee to Splash Zone. We made it happen.
Eileen Myers is a resident of Essex of Springfield and is bedridden and on a ventilator. She wanted to attend her granddaughter's graduation from West Liberty-Salem High School. It seemed like a tough job, but the Senior Dream Center came through.
Alberta Conley, a resident of Villa Springfield, wanted to attend her 55th high school reunion in Mechanicsburg, but had no transportation.
Joan Clemmons, who was bedridden, was downsized from a single room to a double room at her nursing home. She had to give up her recliner that allowed her to get out of bed occasionally. Her dream was to have a smaller recliner to accomodate her shared room.
Frank Goff of Springfield owns a dog named Susie. She had a tumor the size of a softball in her left shoulder making it impossible for her to walk. Frank couldn't afford the surgery, so the Senior Dream Center took care of it.
Margaret Williams, who is in the dementia unit at South Brook Nursing Home, is 99 years old and in a wheelchair. Margaret's dream was to ride around Springfield to see the sites. We took her around - in style.
George Reggina, a volunteer at Elderly United, took in a stray dog last December. Since he is on limited means, we gave his dog "the works".
Owen & Lora Damewood celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, but they lived in separate nursing homes. We brought them together.
We fulfilled Ed Rydstom's dream of having a chess opponent. Ed is a self-taught player.
We fulfilled Sue Bess Tipton's dream of touching a horse.
